Frosted Leaf

Starting with a digital photograph printed on fabric, the frost on the leaf was enhanced with pencil crayon. Setacolor paint and pencil crayon were also applied to the rocks. The piece was layered and quilted using multiple layers to create dimension. Needlelace by hand created an interesting and complex edge. It is mounted on a black canvas. (16" X 24")

Petroglyphs were an early form of rock art and are found throughout the world. Arizona has a rich aboriginal history and petroglyphs can be seen throughout the state, in both urban and rural locations. This quilt illustrates some of the images seen travelling through Arizona. (30" X 30")

We often spend our time looking at the sky, the buildings and people around us. However, there is beauty to be seen at our feet. Most major cities have glorious manhole covers - perhaps an odd place to find art, but it is there on display for all to see and enjoy. This piece is a reflection of one of the decorative covers we have in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (20" X 24")
